First Sleepover!

Sam had his first sleepover at grandma & grandpa's last night ... he did wonderful ... and mom survived too. definitely much harder on mom than it was on Sam! :)

Happy Birthday to Sam!

1/2 a year old already! so we had half a candle on a piece of cake. (mom ate the cake, Sam was just there for the photo op!)

6 months old

I can't believe my little Sam is 6 months old today! he is growing up so fast but he is such a little goofball, he is so fun to have!

Yesterday he was chilling in his swing so I thought I would capture the rare moment of him chillin'
But it took about 5 seconds and he decided "I'm not staying in this swing!"
Then about another 5 seconds later he couldn't hold the pose anymore so he plopped down, looked around and discovered that there was something for him to grab onto BEHIND the swing.

mmm, carrots!

Sam is growing up ... he has started solids (with teeth that big & a few bites on mom, he was ready! haha) He started rice cereal last week and this week I added carrots. Took a few tries for him to like the carrots, but now it's going well. (and mom's side-note: babies should be potty trained before they start solids!!)

Dad is home!!

This outfit was too cute not to post ... one of our friends loaned us a bag of clothes and they are so adorable! I love the hat although I must admit that it is pretty bad when it is so cold in Calgary that you can wear a hat in July! :(

and on a good note: dad is home!! he was in Whistler for 5 days and made it home last night at 11:30. When we went to bed we could hear Sam playing in his crib - very odd for him, he is usually sleeping. But I think Sam could sense that dad was home and that's why he was up so I told Stuart he could go get Sam and say hi. Sam was sooo excited, he was jumping all over the place! It was adorable. But Mom is hoping that was a one night thing! I don't need him hyper in the middle of the night. :)

I bought this shirt for Sam ... so appropriate!

And he got a new chair to sit at the table at grandma & grandpa's ... he loves it! He really enjoyed sitting at the table with us and making lots of noise :)

On my toes ... at all times!

Sam sure keeps me on my toes! He has been sitting on his own and enjoys playing while he is sitting up now. So I got out the playpen for him to sit & play in because I thought that was pretty safe ...

And sure enough, later that day ... again, sitting in playpen (gnawing on the sides of course because he gnaws on everything!)

After this happened twice, needless to say we took the first layer out of the playpen! hopefully this buys me at least another month :) it's not as fun for Sam being way down there and not able to see everything (not to mention it's not as fun for mom reaching way down there to pick him up!) so we'll see how long the playpen lasts - so far the trick is LOTS of toys.

Big Boy Chair

Sam is too big to sit on the bumbo on the counter with me anymore ... he is a strong little guy and will very soon figure out how to get out of that chair so it's only on the floor now. Which meant that it was time to get out the high chair so he could still help mom cook in the kitchen. he thinks its so cool!

Attention Hog!

Stuart's family came to visit this weekend ... Sam LOVED all the attention from Aunty Carolyn, Grandpa & Baba !! And mom & dad loved someone else giving Sam all the attention and we just got to relax :)


He's teething again ... so just chewing away on poor Sophie! Keeping Baba & Grandpa entertained as he tries to shove not one, not two, but 3 of the legs down his throat

We went to the pool on Saturday because the weather was so bad ... noodling it up! his face is so wet because he splashes so much in the water

The Monkey is Sleeping

Sam slept from 12-8:30 last night, wowzers!! But as you can see below, he clearly was not sleeping non-stop (he just did not cry and wake me up so I count that as sleeping!). I woke up at 8 and went to check on him and this is what I see: (pic is dark because I'm not dumb enough to use a flash when he's sleeping!)

I swaddle him and put him in the middle of his crib at night... his head was by the sheep's head and he was facing the other way. So he has managed to unswaddle himself AND turn himself around, AND move to the very edge of the crib - feet sticking out and all! but he's sound asleep. when he woke up, he had both feet sticking out the crib and he was trying to figure out how to move. If I hadn't picked him up, I'm sure he would have made it to the other side of the crib. :) my little monkey!

Hiking

we went on a hike during our camping trip ... it was NOT warm and Sam had to wear his snowsuit (in July?!!). But he had a great time and was singing away when he wasn't having a snooze....he was nicely doing his job making noise to scare the bears away!

Sam goes camping

We wery very brave (or stupid) and took Sam for his first camping trip at 5 months. next one might be 5 years! haha. No, he did great - he loves the outdoors. He did have some issues sleeping at night but that seemed to be more of a problem for mom & dad than for him - he was happy as could be, even at 2 am!


Just arrived at our little trapper's tent ... perfect for camping with a baby. lots of room inside & a heater! Dad is starting the trip out right :)
