December

December has been crazy busy, but lots of fun! it involved a visit from Baba & Papa while mom and dad went to Banff for an evening, Sam's "Holiday Party" at daycare, a trip to Medicine Hat to visit with Aunty & Uncle, Christmas round 3 with Tammy's parents, a gingerbread house, Sam's first sledding, and a visit to Santa!

Stuart's parents flew in this weekend to stay with Sam while we went to Banff... it was their first overnight with Sam and he LOVED it! in fact, when we got home Sam was napping so when he woke up, we went to get him and he looked at us shyly and then we brought him downstairs and he saw baba & grandpa (who he calls pa pa) and got the HUGEST smile and yelled "HI!" really made us feel missed. :) But we're glad he had such a fun time - going to have to do it again

We had Christmas with them too while they were here. They brought Sam his own suitcase to take to Maui

Zoo trip

we went outside this morning at 7:30 in our PJs and it was sooo gorgeous out that we decided to ditch the chores and go to the zoo to enjoy the nice weather. Of course the weather turned on us and there were massive wind gusts so we spent lots of time indoors and still had fun

BUG! Sam was so good not touching things. big difference from this summer when we would take him and he would not only touch, but be eating too! he's growing up ....

kids always flock together .... there wasn't even much to look at (water), but because there were other kids there, that was where Sam wanted to be :)

Sam doing an "airpane"....I don't know where he learned this! his newest thing though is climbing on everything and moving stools around the house to climb on even higher things. oh ya, and threatening mommy that he's going to jump because it's pretty funny to see how fast she can run over :)

Fire Truck

Sam has been obsessed with fire trucks lately so grandma & grandpa brought him a fire truck this weekend. it has sirens and the ladder goes up & down - he LOVES the sirens (mom is on the verge of NOT loving the sirens!) and thinks the ladder should be down at all times and gets mad when you lift it up. :)


And, I have to share this picture too because I love it!! Sunday morning Sam decided he wanted to try my coffee (probably because I was letting him eat the whip cream off my gingerbread latte a few days ago) - he got more on his face than he tasted but he kept saying mmmmm which is probably because that's what I say every morning when I drink my coffee :) this "parrot" phase is scary!

Happy Halloween

we had a Halloween party today so we got to don the costumes a day early ....

we have been trying to teach Sam to say "trick or treat" and he smiles REAL big and yells "BIG TRUCK" - somehow he got trick to be truck. but he's so cute & enthusiastic about it, we're pretty sure it will work.

Deliveries

we got 2 deliveries yesterday .... an order of frozen meat and new tires. the frozen meat came on dry ice so we put the ice on water and made fog - Sam thought it was SOOO COOL!

and the tires were lots of fun to play in ...

...and on! this picture came right after asking "Sam, is that safe?!" you can tell by the look on his face that he knows it is probably not :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Sunday morning we went to South Glenmore Park for a family photo shoot. Sam was not really the most cooperative so we'll see how they actually turn out (he's 1.5 and we were at a playground - imagine that he didn't want to pose for pictures!)

Happy Birthday Dad & Grandpa

Fall Fun

One of my favorite things as a mom is living the simple moments through Sam's eyes and we did that today! Sam and I were on our way to do errands this afternoon and the car said +24 and I looked around at the beauty of the fall colors and turned the car around and drove to the park to play in the leaves. we had a blast running down hills and falling in the leaves, shuffling our feet in the leaves, throwing leaves at each other, crushing the leaves .....

we ended up staying a bit longer at the park than I planned. Mom was having so much fun with Sam and put her keys down in the leaves!! Then when we were ready to go - WHERE ARE MY KEYS??!! After the panic subsided, I realized there was no option but to find the keys (all I took with me was the keys and the camera) so I methodically started going through the leaves until I found them. luckily we stayed in one area and it only took a few minutes to find them.

Happy Birthday Mom

I had such a wonderful birthday - I sent Sam to daycare and Stuart to work and had the house to myself with an agenda to do NOTHING! all you moms would appreciate how precious and wonderful that was. I stayed in my housecoat until noon and surfed the net and watched TV, then the power went out so I figured I better get up and get dressed. Once I got dressed and tidied up, I thought a nap was in order and then the boys came home and spoiled me with sushi, cupcakes & flowers!

Happy 40th Anniversary Baba & Grandpa

we went to Saskatoon this weekend to throw a "surpise" (inside joke for you Carolyn) party for Stuart's parents 40th wedding anniversary. Sam was sooooo good - he travelled well and was a great partier and even told us when he was ready to go to bed and just went straight to sleep. what a perfect boy :) (better write that down so I can come back and re-read it often! haha)

some things you just don't want to know....

this is NOT a posed picture! when I saw him, my only thought was "I don't think I want to know..." so, I don't know how my son got himself into this situation, but it's sure good material to embarrass him one day, and therefore worth sharing now :)

Beaters start and Sam comes a-running!

We had friends over for a BBQ on Saturday night and I was making dessert - Sam is no dummy, he knows what baking with mom entails and comes running to "help" (actually he runs over and starts yelling "moorre, moorre" as soon as he hears the beaters)

seriously.... will we ever get a picture without a truck in hand?!

what can I say? at least he was happy! and speaking of happy: Sam can actually jump now and get both feet off the ground at the same time! that's not an easy feat...he used to "think" he was jumping and would do the hip-jump as we called it where he would basically just squat and then stand...! but now he does the full jump and it's sooo cute - he knows he is jumping and is so excited - we just have to watch him like a hawk because he wants to try it everywhere (even the tile floors! yikes).

And he moves up to the "toddler" daycare room at the end of this month. He has been transitioning and already spending time in there and he loves it. Today I dropped him off and then I didn't leave the room right away because I was looking around for his stuff from Friday and Sam looks at me and yells "BYE-BYE". Guess I was told!
