Kelowna Vacation, Part 2

Home from vacation and part 2 was just as much fun as part 1. :)

We went to the waterslides on the one sunny day we had (the other days were all warm, but cloudy) - Sam LOVED them! he was a great water slider. and when he would get cold, we took him in the "hot tub" which was just warm water (full of kids - can't be too hot) and he would be so excited and yell "BAF, BAF" because it was about the same temperature as his baths.

On the drive home, we went to minature land for a stopover. it was NOT what I remembered it to be - kinda old and lame, really. So I asked my mom if we ever went there and she said "we went there once" then I asked Stuart's parents and they said "we went there once". haha! I think it's one of those places you go once - it's not nearly as fun as enchanted forest! But Sam did like the trains

We came home early Saturday morning and finished our trip as a "stay-cation". We went to the farmers market and petting zoo Saturday morning & Stanley Park/Elbow river Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning we went to the zoo and Sunday afternoon we went over to grandma & grandpa's and played in the new pool that they bought Sam (it was a BIG hit!)

Tractor at the farmer's market - Sam was so enthralled (TUCK! TUCK!)

Coming down the slide at the zoo

Clearly he can't read, but he can sure climb

His first carousel ride...was pretty exciting.

Sam decided to skip his afternoon nap on Sunday so we were hanging out at the house & were planing to go to the wading pool. Grandma phoned and asked if we wanted to come over - I asked if she had the pool set up and she said yes, so I said "OK, we're on our way". She didn't realize I meant that literally and wasn't quite prepared when we were there 15 minutes later. :) Sam loves playing outside and he especially loved his pool - he spent the whole afternoon just going in and out of the pool and playing in the yard ... and it sure beat going to the wading pool because I didn't have to worry about him wandering off and we had grandma & grandpa to watch him so mom got to lounge :)

Kelowna Vacation, Part 1

first half of vacation is done already! here are a few highlights of our trip so far

On the first day when we were leaving Calgary, we found out that the highway by Golden was closed due to a rock slide ... so we had to reroute through Radium. In theory, that should have added 1 hour to our trip. In reality, it added 4 hours - traffic was INSANE! It took 3 hours to get the last 20k into Radium.

Our navigator is checking the route for us

come on cars, let's go! (here's a way to keep a 1yr old occupied when you are barely moving for 3 hours...)

Day 2 we stopped at the Enchanted Forest. Sam is hanging out with the 3rd little piggy - true engineer...he knew to stay out of the straw and wood houses and he hunkered down in the secure brick house!

Then we stopped at Dutchmens Dairy to see the cows and have some ice cream....Sam liked the cows until they tried to lick him!

his mother's son... ;)

A visit to Mission Hill Winery....see the sign on the left: "escorted guests only"

therefore, Sam being escorted out! :)

Day 3&4, we spent exploring parks in Kelowna. We went to Rotary Beach, Gyro Park, a little park at the Manteo, City Park downtown, the splash park downtown, and time at the pool!

Fun at the splash park in downtown Kelowna

A day with baba and grandpa

Baba & Grandpa rolled into town last night and offered to spend the day with Sam .... and mom was more than happy to have a day away - win, win! :) Sam had SUCH a fun time playing with them - he didn't even care when mom came home.

In the morning they watched the big trucks tear up the road in front of our place, then they went to a music/story time at our local bookstore, a trip to Safeway, home for lunch, and crashed for a nap! In the afternoon we went to the wading pool in Eau Claire and took baba and grandpa for a tour of Sam's daycare. As we started getting close to the daycare, Sam started yelling "NO NO NO" in the car. We kept explaining that he wasn't staying - then when we got there, he immediately wanted to play in his room. After the wading pool, we came home and played outside - Sam started getting whiney so we brought him in for supper and he kept saying "BAF" "BAF". It was only 6pm, but he was clearly tuckered out and ready for bath and bed....so he got a long bath and lots of playtime and was sleeping before 7. (and if anyone cares - mom had an AMAZING day spoiling herself....haircut, shopping with my mom (which was TOO successful - new makeup, new dress, new bedding) and lunch on the patio.)

watching the trucks with baba

TUCK!

Grandpa tries to go to the washroom .... Sam keeps yelling at him and waits right by the door till he gets out

In the afternoon we went to the wading pool

Cookies! baba is Sam's favorite now :)

July 14

Sam was back at daycare today and I am really busy at work so don't have time to check the webcam very often but when I had a chance today, I saw that Sam was sitting in the highchair and his bear was on the floor ... then his teacher goes and picks it up and puts it away ..... then Sam's mouth is wide open: I don't need volume to know that he was not very happy! :) But he had a fun day with his trucks and animals and saw geese swimming in the pond.

YEE-HAW! Happy Stampede. checking out mom's cowboy hat, in the morning

let's go for a walk mom, I'm putting my seatbelt on

When we came home, they were demolishing a house behind our place so we went to watch the tractor ... Sam was fascinated - for a couple minutes, then he wanted to run!

July 13: a day at grandma & grandpa's

Grandma & Grandpa were off work this week so Sam got to go spend the day there today instead of daycare. he was so pumped!! he kept yelling GA-PA GA-PA in the car. Poor ama-ama - she is OUT. I wonder how much he recognizes though because I was quite surprised that as we passed the turnoff for downtown and kept going north, he immediately started chatting and laughing in the car...I had already told him that he was going to see grandma & grandpa and it was like he recognized we were not going to daycare - SOOO smart! :)

always has fun outside at G&G's house

playing outside with grandpa after their Tim Horton's run

12:24 I get an email: "won't nap so we're going for a walk"
12:31 I get an email: "fooled us!" :)

Dad is in Whistler

so the rest of you will have to put up with lots of posts that don't have much updates in them while we share pictures with dad in the cheapest way possible! :)

today’s daycare report said “He had fun playing with his animal and everyone else’s animal. He had fun at music time. He also had fun doing art. He had fun outside, saw ducks and geese” (sidebar - they are having jungle theme at daycare this week and they all had to bring an animal in)

eating supper ... and watching cars!

practicing his swimming

need a drink after all that swimming!

all bundled up and ready for bed

Camping

we took Sam on his 2nd camping trip....he loved the outdoors and was a great camper (as long as being a great camper does not mean you need to sleep!)
