Home from Maui

we are home from Maui - it was AMAZING. the coolest day was 29 and no rain - and even better: no snow! Sam loved the ocean, the sunshine, the beach, the pool, the condo, etc etc. We found a great playground that he had a blast at, we went on a hike (albeit a little short as we forgot the fully stocked backpack at the condo so we had no water, no diapers, no camera), we took Sam snorkeling (Sam didn't snorkel but he did get to look at the fish through the boat glass bottom and go for a swim in the ocean), and we went to the Maui aquarium. Sam did great on the flight there - we had an empty seat beside us so he had a little nap right away and then he played and we did rounds and rounds and rounds running around the plane (it was a large plane). The flight home was a little worse as it was overnight and Sam moves A LOT in his sleep so every time he tried to move and there was no space, he would wake up and cry. And then the trip ended in a small tragedy - in all our tiredness to get off the plane, we left Sam's bunny - his sleep-pal, his best-bud, his bunny! So he now has to sleep with a bear, and let me tell you, it's not the same. Mom tried everything to get this bunny back but no luck! :(

Home from Regina, off to Maui!

it's been a whirlwind of travel for us. This weekend we went to Regina for Great-Grandma's burial and memorial service. It was a lovely service and a great weekend with Stuart's family - they don't get together as a big group very often so it was really nice to meet some and see everyone! Sam was his normal "who are these people and why do they know my name" and then on to Sam-the-Ham! :)

I don't have lots of pictures yet (hoping some get emailed to me ... hint hint) but here's a fun one of Sam playing with Baba & Grandpa

And now we are off to Maui to escape the snow which doesn't seem to end here .... I will leave you with the view from our condo (and we're not taking the computer so no updates for a week!)

bring...bring

what an exciting Friday night - including a visit from the police!!

First the cute part: Sam went in our room and got the phone and was playing with it (as he does quite frequently) - I said to him "are you calling grandma?" and he put the phone to his ear and started yelling "ama, ama" :)

Then the mortifying part: who knew that a 14 month old would actually dial 911 and manage to connect the phone?! and he had to do this while eating rocks from the plant pot. So I was focussed on the fact that he had rocks in his mouth and I grabbed the phone, pushed the talk button to make sure it wasn't connected and then I saw the number flash (91111111). I thought "uh oh, I hope that didn't dial!" and sure enough a minute later, the phone rings. "did you dial 911 and hang up?" I have to now reassure the operator that all is well and my 14mo old dialed the phone and no one else is in the house and there are no weapons and yes, I am sure that all is well (and I'm very conscientious to be very polite, apologetic & calm so they don't worry). But of course, they have to send a police officer to the house to confirm everything is OK. Really - quite embarrassing!

And all this while dad is out on a guys night! :) Mother of the year award goes to: MOI

I have no picture for this, but I thought maybe Sam was missing Uncle Devin so he wanted to see a police officer :)

Warning: contagious laugh

Sam was playing ball on the stairs and just laughing and laughing ... he was almost crying, he was laughing so hard. be warned: his laugh is very contagious :)

I'm afraid for Sam...

he is already showing signs of the knack. what can I do?! :)

Sam gets to spend the first Friday of every month at grandma's house and always has a blast!

In the morning, going for a walk after mom dropped him off

pizza & chocolate milk for supper - sounds like a perfect grandparent supper!
