5 months old

Sam is 5 months old today ... I can hardly believe it! time is going by way too fast.


here is his 2-tooth smile today (he broke tooth #2 on the evening of Monday June 21 - it seemed like one minute it wasn't there and one minute it was!)

First Father's Day

we celebrated Father's Day WEEKEND in our household! :) We checked the weather in Golden for biking and Sunday was the better of the 2 days so we spent Saturday in Calgary celebrating Father's Day. The weather was gorgeous and we had a really fun day! Breakfast, presents, walk to farmer's market for lunch, pool in the afternoon & a good ukrainian dinner with fresh food from the market.


8am: dad is putting Sam to sleep for his morning nap ... yes, nap at 8am! you can figure out how early that means he got up (answer is WAY too early for a weekend)
9:00am: naps are done and everyone up and showered & ready for a fun day - Sam even got a special shirt for the day
One of dad's presents - this book was Stuart's favorite book as a boy ... so Sam bought dad a copy to read to him. As you can see, Sam is clearly interested in the presents

Like Father, Like Son

Happy Father's Day to the best dad out there! (a little early because we have a busy weekend, I don't think I will have time to update the blog)

First Tooth

June 15th: Sam is 4 months, 3 weeks & 2 days old...and he cut his first tooth! Mom was pretty sad to be honest - this means my little baby is growing up! :( But Sam has been a trooper through it all! and no biting mom yet while eating (note the word YET)


Let me tell you - it is VERY hard to get a picture of that little tooth. thank goodness for digital

April 23rd: he was so proud of his gums:

June 15: hiding that little white tooth: (one of about 46 pictures!)

But mom is determined...so she holds him down (you can see the little white knob)

And the next day Sam shows off that little tooth when he is screaming ... so mom runs to get the camera instead of picking him up! (sorry Sam, you left me no choice!)

Welfare Baby

my poor Sam....no clothes....welfare baby?? nope! unprepared first time mom.


we went out to Ikea and he decided to poop in his car seat. So being the good mother that I am, I immediately took him to the change room to get him out of the diaper before it started spreading. too late! clothes were covered and had to come off. but to my dismay, I had only 1 diaper (thank goodness I had it), no spare clothes/t-shirts, no cloths, no wipes! I had to clean him up with the paper towel in the bathroom (he wasn't too pleased) and he got to go shopping with no clothes.

as you can see, no harm done!

ps....apparently my paper towel clean job wasn't that great! check out the foot ;)

Biking season has begun

Biking season is here - Kicking Horse opened this weekend so we went to Golden. The weather was soooo gorgeous and it was so nice to get out of town. Dad came home with some good trail cred' but all in one piece. :)

everything new is fascinating!

Sam is my little learner - he is so curious and always exploring new things. He LOVES to stand in the bathroom and talk to himself in the mirror ... but that too is passing and now he is exploring all the components in the bathroom. So yesterday as he started looking at the tap, I put him in the sink and he was very fascinated. yes, with a tap! it's something new - he loves anything new

Lime: an aquired taste

I gave Sam a lime to try the other night...I almost peed my pants, I was laughing so hard. Poor guy! but it's good to try new things, right?! :)

Happy June!

June is here....maybe that means summer?! maybe?? :)

The snow is gone (at least for now) and Sam spent lots of time outside today: stroller fitness with mom, delivered condo newsletters with mom, went for a walk with grandpa (while mom got a much deserved massage - yeah!), then for a run with dad. I am hoping the fresh air has worn him out.
