Big Boy Eating a Crab Apple

Sam got his hair cut this week ... quite a bit shorter than I wanted it. I think he looks so much older! (BOO!)

Tonight we gave him a crab apple off of our tree and were looking forward to his sour face (I know I know, we're evil parents) .... he disappointed and LIKED it!

Finish to the Long Weekend

we finished the long weekend with some dad-time (YIPEE!!!) and went to the Corn Maze in the morning and to the river in the afternoon to cool off. it was a great long weekend - always entertaining with Sam the Ham!

Play date and pool party

We had a playdate this morning at Prince's Island Park....had a blast with some close friends. Sam loves the park. And then this afternoon when I was waiting for Sam to get up, I decided to set up the pool and have a pool party (knowing that as soon as the pool came out, so would all the neighborhood kids). I put warm water in it and that was a big hit.

did you know that you can fit a 7yr old, a 5yr old & a 1yr old in a 36" pool?!!

End of staycation

and Sam got his first shiner at the park ... true boy - didn't even seem to bother him!

we TRY to teach him to be gentle....but he is all boy and this will be a life-long lesson! Sam had a blast playing with the bunnies though and they were pretty good sports

Staycation

we are doing a "staycation" this week - vacationing in Calgary. It is much easier than travelling with Sam and we have had the best weather of the year so far! it's been a whirlwind but a blast

Day 1: we went to Sylvan Lake waterslides....it was supposed to be 29 and feels like 32 that day but it only got to about 24 at the lake so we had to take a few warm up breaks. But Sam loves the water so much, the breaks didn't last long.

Day 2: we went to the zoo in the morning, attempted a nap in the afternoon, and to the South Glenmore Splash Park & Playground in the afternoon. Sam even figured out how to climb UP the slide like the big kids

Day 3: we went to Calaway Park....Sam loved the rides, and like the engineer that he is, I noticed him always watching how the rides worked. We were surprised how many rides we could take Sam on - we didn't even get to them all because he started rubbing his eyes so we took him home for a nap (that he didn't have!) And unfortunately we forgot to take the camera so we only have a couple of phone pictures.

Day 4: we went to the Calgary Cornmaze - one of the best places we have been this week! Sam had a blast on the jumping pillows, at Bunnyville, the tractor ride, the petting zoo, the playground, etc. It was a toss-up between the bunnies and the jumping pillows - luckily there was a few minutes that there were no big kids on them and Sam could run on them, he just thought it was hilarious! And of course he LOVES the "munnnny". I have a great video I will get uploaded too. We were smart today and did a morning nap BEFORE we left so we did get a nap in! And, we did remember to take the camera this time, but the battery died!!

and ps....pulled dad's first grey hair out today! guess who that came from?! :) he wanted to save it for Sam's baby book!

Agenda for tomorrow is a hike in Banff and Friday we are going to enjoy a day at home and a playdate! we'll be ready for a "quiet" day.

Weekend

we had a great weekend visiting in Medicine Hat with Stuart's family, and Auntie Deb and Lia and Ali came to visit from Victoria and it was really nice to see them. Auntie Deb was Sam's favorite because she got him a playmobile car & truck set - it's his favorite toy now. And of course, Sam was pretty pumped to see Baba & Grandpa! It was so cute because Baba was leaving the back yard to go to the front yard and Sam just starting crying "BABA, BABA" and he was running towards her with his arms out - he didn't want her to leave yet!

Friday we were home and baked cookies together .... then Sam found out that he could eat the cookie dough and that was much better than baking!

In Medicine Hat on Saturday - we went to a little lake they have which was perfect for kids because it was shallow and Sam loved just walking in and out, playing in the sand and water.
